Master Gardener Expo

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Last weekend, March 28th, The Ellis County SPCA participated in the Master Gardner Expo by having a booth and dispersing information. Sadly, we were unable to have some of our fuzzies there, due to not having a truck to pull the mobile adoption trailer.

We raised $336.00 and the shelter received a ton of traffic from people seeing an updated doggie poster that Kari Fulce put out at the event to highlight some of the dogs – let’s hope we get some of these sweet babies adopted out to good homes!!!

We gave out a ton of information on the Kaufman County “Low-Cost Spay/Neuter” program and on the “tethering” law. While we do get a few donations (and yes, every penny counts), our main goal for participating in the festivals is to make sure that everyone in Ellis County knows we are here.

Thanks to all of our volunteers, who give up their weekends to support these festivals!

EC SPCA-A big hit at the Waxahachie Lifestyles Expo!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

The EC SPCA was out in numbers last Saturday, March 7th, at the Waxahachie Lifestyles Expo. Our booth was donated to us by 2 wonderful supporters, The Pampered Chef (Barbara Brasfield) and Wolverton Air (Keith Wolverton). Also, the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and the Waxahachie Civic Center were gracious in hosting our mobile pet-adoption facility!

We had a great day in donations with a total of $433.  A special thanks goes to Shirley and Michael at Bow-Wow Barbers.  They held a raffle with the benefits coming to us!  What would we do without them and our other supporters who give at every opportunity?

Our mobile pet-adoption crew had one adoption on site with two additional promising leads for Sunday adoptions.  I know the people of Ellis County look forward to our mobile adoptions.  We had many people stop at the booth and ask if we were going to have our fuzzy friends out!

Again, thanks to our sponsors, our volunteers and supporters, it truly takes a village to make a difference in the lives of the homeless animals of Ellis County!

Our next event will be the Ellis County Master Gardeners Lawn and Garden Expo on March 28th at The Waxahachie Civic Center.

Bette

Bette, a senior Chihuahua was saved from another shelter where her time had run out. She came to us in need of expensive knee surgery, approximately $1000. We matched Bette with a generous supporter and she underwent a successful surgery. Then she was put up for adoption at the Ellis County SPCA. She was adopted quickly and went to a wonderful forever home! You, too, can make a difference, one tail at a time!
